Education Minister Sorin Cimpeanu has issued a note according to which, from Wednesday, universities will return to in-person teaching; however, wherever such instruction "is not possible immediately," universities can choose an optimal transition period to do so based on university autonomy.
His remarks came as President Klaus Iohannis announced at the end of last week that the alert imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic would not be extended beyond March 8, given that "wave five is about to end." Romania was under a state of health alert for almost two years, from May 15, 2020 to March 8, 2022.
