Danube Protector 22 Exercise, training drills on Danube and Sfantu Gheorghe branch

The Mihail Kogalniceanu River Flotilla is carrying out the Danube Protector 22 drill, where naval combat capabilities are taking part, as well as infantry structures of Land Forces, marine infantry structures and combat support structures of the Pontica Logistics Naval Base.

The scenario of the drill contains sequences of repelling and neutralizing enemy scout-diversion elements, sequences of repelling river and aerial assault at the Danube's mouths, in the Delta and in the seaside area in Northern Dobrogea, according to a press release sent by the Naval Forces to AGERPRES on Tuesday.

According to the quoted source, seven military naval crafts, ten quick assault crafts, a company of marine infantry and a platoon of infantry from the 9th Mechanized Brigade are carrying out, on the Danube and the Sfantu Gheorghe branch, training actions for defending river communication channels and infrastructure around the mouths of the Danube in the Black Sea.

The main objective of the exercise is represented by consolidating the soldiers' skills for executing tactical actions of countering an air-mobile assault, in the context of hybrid type threats and the risk of CBRN (chemical-bacteriological-radionuclear) attacks, the press release specifies.
