A squad made up of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialists from the 307th Marine Regiment in Babadag carry out a mission on Tuesday in Sfantu Gheorghe locality of Tulcea county of defusing a grenade, reported by a civilian near the place where the Danube River flows into the Black Sea.
According to a release from the Ministry of National Defence, after the call received to the emergency number 112, specialists from the Police, Emergencies Inspectorate and the Border Police showed up at the indicated place. The first investigations observed that the reported object is a grenade launcher shot, being, most likely, an inert shot (empty, without explosive charge, used for exercises).
According to the procedures for such situations, the beach area was restricted and the intervention of the military specialized in bomb defusing was requested. As a result, a team of bomb squad marines was sent from Babadag at around 3pm to Sfantul Gheorghe beach with two fast boats on Sfantul Gheorghe Arm, with the task of intervening to neutralize the shot, Agerpres informs.
