Oradea City Hall announced on Wednesday that more than 26 tons of humanitarian aid had been collected from donations for Ukraine, and so far three transports have been made to the cities of Ivano-Frankivsk, Mariupol and Kharkiv.

Given the ongoing humanitarian crisis generated by the war in Ukraine and in order to help civilians facing extremely difficult situations, the City Hall appealed to citizens, individuals, religious cults, companies, to join the effort to raise funds and products for refugees.

"We encourage cash donations, because in terms of volume, we can buy a larger number of products cheaper than individually," the Bihor for Ukraine Initiative Group said.

The same press release reads that in Ivano-Frankivsk, a city with which Oradea has a special connection, there is an acute shortage of products in stores, as trade routes are severely affected, with many women and children now fleeing the east to go west. Thus, all gyms and other public spaces in the community are full of refugees who have left their homes with only strict necessities. Also, through our partner organizations, the donated products reach the front line.
