ICR awards, for first time, prize for best translation of Romanian literature, at FILIT

The Romanian Cultural Institute awards for the first time, at this year's edition of the International Festival of Literature and Translation (FILIT) from northeastern Iasi, the prize for the best translation of a book from Romanian literature, a festival that will take place between October 19-23, the institute announced, in a press release sent to Agerpres on Thursday.

From an initial list of 60 translations published in 2021 with the support of the ICR through the Translation and Publication Support program, the jury selected and nominated the volumes "Vizuina luminata. Jurnal de sanatoriu" (The Lit Up Burrow: Sanatorium Journal) by Max Blecher, translated by Inger Johansson, h:strom Text & Kultur Publishing House, Sweden; "Poetry Anthology" by Mircea Cartarescu, translated by Marian Ochoa de Eribe and Eta Hrubaru, Editorial Impedimenta Publishing House, Spain; "Solenoid" by Mircea Cartarescu, translated by Bruno Mazzoni, Il Saggiatore publishing house, Italy; "Cartea numerilor" (The book of numbers) by Florina Ilis, translated into French by Marily Le Nir, Editions des Syrtes, Switzerland; The Summer When My Mother Had Green Eyes, translated by Fernando Klabin, Editora Mundareu publishing house, Brazil; "Anthology of contemporary Romanian poetry" by Hellmut Seiler (coordinator and translator), Edition Noack & Block, Germany, told Agerpres.

The prize will be awarded at the FILIT Evenings, on October 23, at the Vasile Alecsandri National Theater in Iasi.
