Six people from Turkey and Syria were found on Sunday night trying to leave Romania illegally hidden in a lorry loaded with peanuts that were to be delivered to a company in Switzerland, told Agerpres.

The vehicle, driven by a Turkish citizen, was checked at the Nadlac checkpoint.

"According to the cargo manifest, the vehicle was carrying peanuts for a commercial company in Switzerland. After a detailed check, six foreign nationals were found in the cargo compartment. They were picked up and driven to the border police for investigations, which revealed that they are nationals of Turkey and Syria," the Arad Border Police informed on Monday.

The migrants will be investigated for attempting to illegally cross the state border, while the driver could be investigated for migrant trafficking.
