Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu, the national leader of the Social Democratic Party, says that he is convinced that the incumbent ruling coalition will find resources to reduce labour taxation, with payments for schooling, nurseries and hospitals to be deducted from personal income, told Agerpres.

He made the statement on Tuesday at the Government House at the signing of a joint order regarding the approval of rules for the application of a social programme of national interest to support couples and singles to boost the birth rate.

"Just yesterday, we decided, by amendments to Ordinance 119, to come up with RON 0.68 for all families that have three children to support and for single-parent families. There is already evidence of this coalition aiming at supporting families to have children, regardless of the fact that the priorities of young people have changed. First, they want to start up in a career, then they want a family, and almost at the end they come to have children. I am firmly convinced that we will find resources and reduce labour taxation, so that in the income deductibility area we can also include payments for schooling, nurseries, hospitals, so that we can continue to develop this society," said Ciolacu.

He added that in developed countries there is "a drastic decrease" in the birth rate, even if the world population has reached 8 billion.

"There's a problem with the birth rate, especially in the democratic, developed areas, in the European Union, although, it seems to me, last week, for the first time, more than 8 billion people were announced worldwide. In the EU, there is a drastic decrease in the birth rate. We cannot talk about a future and sustainable development, if we do not step in in the birth area. In addition to the programmes that Minister Gabriela Firea released a few weeks ago, she is coming up with a new programme. It is obvious that we will continue to get involved," said the PSD leader.

He congratulated Minister of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities Gabriela Firea and Minister of Labour and Social Solidarity Marius Budai on their excellent collaboration for the implementation of this project and said that Firea implements the measures provided for in the government agenda.
