On Wednesday, the Arad border police discovered 26 migrants from Syria and Turkey who were trying to leave the country hidden in a truck carrying canisters full of hydrochloric acid, told Agerpres.

The truck was checked at the Nadlac I Border Crossing Point and was driven by a Turkish citizen.

"According to the documents accompanying the goods, it was transporting chemical substances (hydrochloric acid) on the Turkey-Germany route. After carrying out the control, the border police noticed that the seal of the trailer was broken, so that they carried out a detailed control of the semi-trailer, where 26 foreign citizens were discovered, hidden in the cargo compartment," informed the Arad Border Police.

The authorities determined that 25 of the migrants are from Syria, while one is from Turkey.

The border police are investigating for migrant trafficking, in the case of the driver, and for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border, in the case of migrants.
