Industrial production down 1.4 pct in first ten months (seasonally adjusted series)

Industrial production in the first ten months of this year was lower both as unadjusted series, by 0.9%, and as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, by 1.4%, compared to the similar period of last year, according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Wednesday.

Between January and October, as unadjusted series, there were decreases in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, water, heating and air conditioning (-7.8%) and the extractive industry (-4%). The manufacturing industry grew by 0.5%.

As series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, in the first ten months of 2022 production drops were recorded in the three industrial sectors: production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (- 7.7%), extractive industry (-4%) and manufacturing industry (-0.1%).

In October 2022, industrial production was lower than September 2022 by 2.6%, as as unadjusted series, as the manufacturing industry decreased by 3.2%, while the extractive industry and the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning increased by 2.5% and 0.5%, respectively.

Industrial production, as series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, was lower compared to the previous month by 0.4%, due to decreases in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-7%) and the manufacturing industry (-0.2%). The extractive industry increased by 0.1%.

Compared to October 2021, industrial production decreased by 0.1% as as unadjusted series, on account of decreases in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (-18.8%) and the extractive industry (-5.1%). The manufacturing industry grew by 3.5%.

Industrial production, as series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, was higher by 0.7%, due to the growth of the manufacturing industry (+4.1%).
