Mayors and county councils presidents who manage projects financed from non-reimbursable external funds will collect an allowance increased from the current 25 percent to 50 percent, Minister of European Investments and Projects Marcel Bolos on Tuesday told a briefing at the end of the government meeting.

"The allowance is paid only if there are financing contracts concluded for the projects they implement and, moreover, this allowance is linked to performance indicators," Bolos said, stressing that the allowance collected by public servants who manage European funds and by the mayor, who is responsible for all the projects under the mayor's office authority, had to be brought in line, Agerpres informs.

Bolos also said that local authorities are currently managing as many as 5,600 contracts worth a combined 11 billion euros.
