Three servicemen injured during explosives handling drill at Catelu military training range

Three troops of the Bucharest-based 13th Communications and Informatics Center "Colonel Gheorghe Visata" were injured during a TNT pyrotechnic ignition drill on Wednesday morning, at the Catelu military training range, told Agerpres.

One of them suffered multiple injuries to the upper limbs and the head and is undergoing complex surgery and medical procedures. He is in stable condition and according to the doctors' assessment, he is in no life-threatening danger, the National Defence Ministry reports.

The life of the other two servicemen is not at risk, and they are being assessed by doctors. The officer suffered skin lesions, wounds to his limbs and vision disturbances, while the other soldier, who requested to be taken to the hospital after approximately two hours from the incident, suffered lesions to his limbs.

According to the cited source, the standard procedures for such situations were immediately applied after the incident - first aid was given on the spot by the medical personnel present during the training session.

Two servicemen, a soldier and a captain, were rushed to the "Carol Davila" Central Military Emergency University Hospital for medical investigations; the third injured member of the personnel, a soldier, was taken later to the same medical facility.

The unit management informed the Bucharest Military Prosecutor's Office and set up an inquiry commission tasked with determining the circumstances of the incident.
