In the first half of this year, immigration police officers carried out more than 600 removals under escort of foreigners from the country, the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI) said in a press release.

According to the IGI, between 1 January and 30 June, immigration police officers carried out 632 operations of removal under escort of foreigners from the Romanian territory. In 602 cases, foreigners were removed under escort to state border crossing points and in 30 cases to their country of origin.

The main reasons for removal under escort were fraudulent crossing of the state border, attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border and failure to comply with the return decision.
