The Government approved on Thursday the decision on setting up the National Cancer Registry, government spokesman Mihai Constantin announced.

"The Government Decision on the establishment of the National Cancer Registry was approved, which will shortly lead to a unitary collection of information on all types of cancer, in order to monitor the incidence of cancers at national level, assess and control the impact of this disease and substantiate public health policies," Constantin said after the Ciolacu Cabinet reunion, Agerpres reports.

He mentioned that, according to the said piece of legislation, these reports in the National Cancer Registry are mandatory for the entire medical system in Romania, either public or private.

The effective organization, as well as the communication standards will be established by order of the Health Minister in the next 30 days, Mihai Constantin said.

According to him, the piece of legislation adopted on Thursday on the establishment of the National Cancer Registry is part of the "medical ecosystem" presented by Health minister Alexandru Rafila last week.
