Border police stops two cars carrying nine migrants close to the Hungarian border

Two cars carrying nine migrants were stopped in traffic, on Thursday, by the border police, in the Curtici area, on a road near the border with Hungary, the drivers, one of them Pakistani, currently being investigated for migrant trafficking.

The cars were checked during actions carried out to prevent and combat illegal migration, agerpres reports.

"During the mission, nine foreign citizens who did not justify their presence in the area were identified, in two cars driven by a Romanian citizen and a Pakistani citizen, near the border. During the checks, it was established that these are citizens from Sri Lanka, Nepal and Pakistan, between the ages of 18 and 47, who entered Romania legally on the basis of personal documents," the Arad Border Police said.

The two drivers are being investigated for migrant trafficking, and the other passengers for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border.
