The government will take responsibility before Parliament on the legislative package aimed at reforming the state apparatus, fiscal balancing measures and those aimed at combating evasion, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday.

"This government is the government of Romania and in this logic we will put Romania first. (...) We need to stop the budget mess, we need to make a fair tax system for everyone and we really need to fight evasion. (...) Billions of euros end up in the pockets of tricksters or are wasted in institutions that trample on each other. (...) We need profound reforms. I will not give up a millimetre, regardless of the pressures of those in the system, I will go all the way with the government team to stop waste and for everyone to pay what is due in this country. (...) I want to announce that the government will take responsibility before Parliament on the legislative package aimed at reforming the state apparatus, fiscal balancing measures and those aimed at combating evasion. I will put my mandate on the table in Parliament for reforms and social justice," Ciolacu said at the beginning of the government reunion, agerpres reports.

The premier added that the state reform must be "deep and irreversible".
