Drula: USR will initiate motion of censure if PM takes responsibility on increasing taxes
Save Romania Union (USR) Chairman Catalin Drula announces that the party he leads will initiate a motion of censure if Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu takes responsibility for the tax increase, told Agerpres.
According to Drula, USR will not ally with the Alliance for Romanians' Union (AUR) in this endeavour.
"For almost three months, Marcel Ciolacu has been the prime minister of words. He announces spectacular actions, only based on words. If he had the courage to abolish the sinecures and stop the waste he would have done it by now, but he doesn't. The pressure from party clientele is too great. He announced the extraordinary session to eliminate special pensions, but he didn't do it because he doesn't dare to upset the privileged," Drula said, according to a press release USR sent on Thursday.
He informed that the motion "will bring together all democratic forces in Parliament, without the involvement of the extremist party AUR."
"We will obviously do everything in our power to oppose abusive tax increases. If there is such an assumption of responsibility, we will call on all democratic forces in Parliament to join us in a motion of censure. USR will not ally with AUR for a motion of censure," added Catalin Drula.
The Government will assume its responsibility before Parliament on the legislative package aimed at reforming the state apparatus, fiscal balance measures and measures to combat tax evasion, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday.
