Romania reports 21 confirmed West Nile virus human cases

As many as 21 human cases of the West Nile virus infection have been reported in Romania from the beginning of the surveillance on June 6, the National Public Health Institute (INSP) reported on Thursday, told Agerpres.

According to INSP, three deaths were recorded as a result of West Nile virus infection - in the counties of Satu Mare, Ilfov and Prahova and one more "probably" in Dolj County .

The uman cases had the following distribution: Bucharest City (5) and the counties: Dolj (2), Galati (3), Ilfov (3), Iasi (2), Olt ( 2), Prahova (1), Sibiu (1), Satu Mare (1), and Tulcea (1). A case had double exposure, both in Bucharest and in Tulcea County.
