Iohannis, to Romanian diplomats: Make every effort so that all Romanians can vote

On Tuesday, President Klaus Iohannis asked Romanian diplomats to make every effort so that all Romanian citizens, wherever they are, can vote under the best circumstances.

"In the current international context, a firm foreign policy means, first of all, being unwavering in promoting our values. From that perspective, I would like to recall that we are on the threshold of an electoral year that will involve the carrying out of three electoral processes in which you will be involved - two national and one European. These electoral processes are not just an administrative exercise; they are the expression of democracy itself. Therefore, I am asking you to make every effort so that all Romanian citizens, wherever they are, can exercise their right to vote under the best circumstances," Iohannis told a meeting at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace with heads of Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices and directors of Romanian cultural institutes.

He congratulated the Romanian diplomats on having provided in 2020 the most consular services in the institution's history - over 1,130,000.

"I have confidence in your continued involvement in providing the best and most modern services to Romanian citizens, based on the extensive consular reform initiated in 2020. I want to congratulate you on last year having managed to provide the most consular services in the institution's history - over 1,130,000," said Iohannis.
