PM Ciolacu: We need a new pension law

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, Social Democratic Party leader, said on Saturday that a new pension law is needed.

"We believe that a new pension law is needed and it has become a legislative priority for the reunited PSD groups and for the Ministry of Labour at this moment. I would like a new pension law to come into force on January 1. And those from the Commission (European Commission, ed. n.) and we know that there are many inequities in the old pension law. We still have pensions of 1,500 RON, but also pensions of 30,000 - 40,000 RON. We must intervene, we have this obligation as a state, to close as much of this major gap as possible," declared Ciolacu at the end of the PSD National Political Council meeting.

He mentioned that there was a discussion about the package that will be included in a single law - the law on assuming responsibility in the Parliament both for combating evasion, as well as for the reforms in local administration and the measures to fit into a smaller deficit than last year and with a perspective of closing a deficit of 3% in 2025.
