Energy is a "key area" and "we cannot allow anyone to blackmail us", Foreign Affairs minister Luminita Odobescu said on Thursday during a debate at the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Business Forum.

Discussions at the forum focus on the three areas of cooperation in the region, namely Energy, Transport and the digital field, agerpres reports.

Odobescu said that in the context of the war in Ukraine, "dependence on an unreliable supplier" had to be stopped. Thus, "Romania's strategy was not just about Romania, but about our region".

"Our objective has been a strong coordination with our partners to guarantee energy security in our region. This has been a priority objective for Romania's energy policy. For example, my country has monitored and continues to monitor regional energy security in order to identify platforms for diversifying cooperation with reliable actors in the field. Cooperation with members of the Three Seas Initiative is relevant in the energy field. In fact, it is one of the pillars of the Initiative", said the head of the Romanian diplomacy.

She said that "our region has a great potential for investments", and we "must have policies that meet investors, encourage financial growth, we must use all financial opportunities in a coherent way".
