Guitarist Al Di Meola, who fell ill at the end of a concert in Bucharest, is feeling well and hopes to return to the stage next year, the organizer of the event said Friday.

Bodo Istvan, manager of the band Ineffable, who opened the Al Di Meola Acoustic Trio concert and president of the ForFun Association, which organised the event at Arenele Romane on September 27, told AGERPRES that the musician fell ill after playing for an hour and 40 minutes, agerpres reports.

He said Al Di Meola went backstage and was immediately given first aid, after which he was taken to hospital, where it was found he had suffered a heart attack and had four stents fitted.

"I'm coming from Mr Al Di Meola now, I had a visit, I sat with him for 30-40 minutes. He's feeling really well, considering the situation he's in, he's already joked that he needs to get back on stage with the band Ineffable, that he didn't get to play and he had a great time with them at rehearsals. He told me that next year we should organise a concert in Bucharest. He's in a very good mood, he's making plans, even though he's cancelled all his concerts for this year, he was supposed to have a tour in North America. I want to mention these things because some incorrect information appeared yesterday in the Romanian and international press, from some pieces of news in the Romanian media. I also saw information that after three songs he became ill. This is not true, he played for an hour and 35-40 minutes, more than we had in our contract, he did not get sick on stage. He felt sick, got up, went backstage and this is the correct information," Bodo Istvan told Agerpres
