Romanian mission in Kosovo - supplemented by 130 troops

The Romanian Army completed supplementing the contingent participating in the NATO - KFOR operation in Kosovo with the company from the strategic reserve at the disposal of SACEUR, with a staff of approximately 130 troops, the Ministry of National Defense (MApN) reported on Friday.

Through the addition completed on Friday, approximately 210 Romanian troops are carrying out missions in Kosovo, in the NATO - KFOR operation, agerpres reports.

The decision to increase the Romanian forces was taken as a result of the authorization by the North-Atlantic Council of supplementing the forces for the management of the current situation in the Western Balkans, and the Romanian subunit, at company level, is part of the strategic reserve at the disposal of SACEUR within the operation NATO KFOR from Kosovo, states the quoted source.

Romania assumed, as a NATO ally and a member state of the European Union, the commitment to contribute with forces and military means to the effort to maintain a stable security environment in the Western Balkans region.

At the moment, our country has more than 480 servicemen deployed in the operation theatres in the Western Balkans, of whom approximately 270 are in Bosnia and Herzegovina, our country being one of the most important contributors with troops to the EUFOR ALTHEA operation in this country.
