30 migrants trying to illegally cross the border into Serbia, detected by border police

Western Timisoara border police detected on Friday and Saturday 30 foreign citizens from Nepal and Afghanistan who tried to illegally cross the border into Serbia, in the case being kicked off investigations for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border, the Timisoara Territorial Border Police Inspectorate (ITPF) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Saturday.

All 30 migrants, discovered with the help of technical surveillance means - thermal imaging, fixed observation equipment and drones, said they tried to illegally cross the border from Romania to Serbia, with the intention of reaching various states in Western Europe, ITPF Timisoara said.

Thus, according to the source, on Friday, around 00:30, the border policemen from the Cruceni Border Police Sector - ITPF Timisoara observed, with the help of thermal imaging equipment, about 500 m from the border, on the direction of the border locality Iohanisfeld, a massive group of people moving from inside the country to the border with Serbia. With the help of drones, 24 foreign citizens who were in the high crops of the fields were spotted. The persons were taken to the headquarters of the Lunga Border Police Sector for investigations. During preliminary checks, border police found that those in question are from Nepal and Afghanistan, aged between 18 and 43.

Also, on Friday evening, two other people, Nepalese citizens, who were moving towards the border with Serbia, were detained by border police. On Saturday morning, border police detained four more people, also from Nepal, who were moving towards the border with Serbia, ITPF Timisoara said.
