Ludovic Orban announces Force of Right to challenge with Constitutional Court merger of elections
The leader of Force of Right Party [Forta Dreptei], Ludovic Orban, announced on Monday that he will challenge by any means a merger of this year's elections, first of all with the Constitutional Court, this being the decision of the National Council of the party, told Agerpres.
"The Force of Right categorically rejects any merger of elections. Each election must be held on time, respecting the Constitution, the principles of democracy. And any attempt to merge elections, regardless of whether it is the merger of local elections with the elections for the European Parliament, the merger of the first round of the presidential elections with the local elections, of merging the local elections with the parliamentary elections, no one really knows what they want anymore, we will use all the opposition levers we have at our disposal to prevent this serious violation of democracy, of the right of Romanian citizens to choose in full knowledge of the cause and to prevent this attempt to defraud the Romanians' votes by mixing the different types of elections.
We believe that the elections for the European Parliament must be the only elections that will take place on June 9 and as such we will challenge with the Constitutional Court, we will organize massive protest actions to prevent this hijacking of the vote of the Romanian citizens", declared Orban in a press conference held at the Parliament.
