President Klaus Iohannis said on Wednesday he does not believe migrants from Turkey to Romania will take a so far less-traveled route via the Black Sea, as Turkey controls the area well.
"Regarding a possible route of migrants from Turkey, via the Black Sea, to Romania, I do not believe in such a route for two reasons. On one hand, Turkey controls very well that area and once it has committed to retain the migrants I have no reason to doubt this matter. On the other hand, the Black Sea cannot be crossed on small boats but only on sizeable craft, but this can be immediately seen and therefore I do not believe that such a route will open," Iohannis told a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Erdogan.
