Bogdan Licu, the acting general prosecutor with the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ), said at a press conference that he asked for the “reopening of criminal investigations in the 1989 Revolution File” and that “criminal investigations will be made for genocide”.

“I decided to deny the resolution and reopening of penal investigations, the denial being adopted based on incomplete information. The investigation shows there was no preoccupation to establish essential aspects for the December 1989 events,” Bogdan Licu said.

At the same time, the acting general prosecutor also said that although “the prosecutors issued a large number of procedure documents in that case, they did not turn to account most data.”

“I did not take action to desecretize documents concerning hearings in the senatorial commission when thousands of hearings were made in that commission and although SRI drew up an ample document it is not found in the criminal file and there is no evidence that any action was taken to obtain it,” Licu said.
