The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) announced the registration - in a first for Romania - of the first two energy communities in the National Register of Energy Communities (RNCE).
"ANRE announces the registration, in the National Register of Energy Communities, of the first Renewable Energy Community (CESR), the Port Community Association, in accordance with ANRE President's Order No. 50/2026," the Authority wrote in a Facebook post.
ANRE also noted the registration of the first Citizen Energy Community, Micasasa Coop from Sibiu County.
The registration of the two communities marks the effective operationalisation of the RNCE and represents an important step in developing, at national level, this new model of active participation by citizens and local actors in the energy market.
ANRE encourages citizens and eligible entities to develop and register energy communities, thereby contributing to increased consumer participation and the development of local energy production.
The National Register of Energy Communities is an ANRE-administered instrument created to register and operationalise Romania's energy communities. The RNCE provides the formal framework for citizens, SMEs and local authorities to produce, consume, store and sell renewable energy at local level.
