More than 30 migrants were found in a truck carrying aluminum profiles, checked at the exit of the country at the Nadlac II Border Checkpoint and bound for Germany.
According to a press release sent by the Arad Border Police on Thursday, the driver is a Bulgarian citizen and the truck is registered in Bulgaria. He was transporting the goods for a German company, and the foreigners were found in the trailer at the border.
"Following the thorough control of the means of transport, 32 foreign nationals were found hidden in the cargo compartment among the aluminum profiles. The persons were taken and transported to the headquarters of the sector for investigations where, following the verifications, the border police found they are citizens of Syria, Iraq and Turkey," the release said.
Migrants could be prosecuted for attempting to cross the state border illegally, but police are checking to find out if the Bulgarian driver was also involved
