The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) argues that, after five months, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) - the National Liberal Party (PNL) coalition is being reformed, accusing the parties of a "political stitch-up" through which the Social Democrats are allegedly trying to protect their "interests."

"The Poverty Coalition is being reformed! The PSD is returning to Bolojan's arms and Romanians will pay the price. Why were five months of political crisis wasted? So that the PSD could ultimately return to Ilie Bolojan's arms? After five months of accusations, negotiations and scandals, Sorin Grindeanu and the PSD will shake hands with the same Ilie Bolojan whom they accused of being responsible for Romania's economic disaster. Everything in order to install the Luca Niculescu Government and to continue the same austerity policies. The AUR condemns this political stitch-up through which the PSD is trying to protect its party interests, once again sacrificing the interests of Romanians. Five months of political theatre to end up with the same underperforming government, with a puppet prime minister," an AUR release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday informed, agerpres reports.

According to the AUR, "the PSD is preparing to once again become Ilie Bolojan's political accomplice in burdening Romanians."

"After criticising taxes, levies and austerity measures, the Social Democrats are ready to provide the votes needed to continue them. Pensioners, low-income families and entrepreneurs will continue to bear the consequences of policies that have reduced the purchasing power and stifled the economy. The Poverty Coalition is being reformed and Romanians are once again the ones being sacrificed. The PSD and Bolojan are not offering a change of direction, but an extension of a government whose effects are already being felt by millions of Romanians. Instead of ending the crisis by returning to a vote by the Romanian people, they prefer to hold on to power and prolong austerity and recession. Five months wasted to return to the same government. The PSD and Bolojan are reconciling, while Romanians are the ones paying the price," AUR conveyed.
