The Senate approved on Monday the withdrawal from the legislative circuit of the bill submitted by a group of PNL parliamentarians regarding a "Golden Visa Romania" Residency by Investment Program, which would have offered citizens from states outside the EU/EEA/Swiss Confederation a temporary residence permit for a period of five years in exchange for a minimum investment of 400,000 euros in Romania.
At the investor's request, members of his family could have been included in the same residence permit.
According to the draft law, eligible investments, of at least 400,000 euros, were proposed to be: Romanian government securities, one or more real estate properties in Romania held for a minimum of five years from the date of acquisition, investment funds registered and authorized in Romania, shares in companies with Romanian capital listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
"Other forms of investment may be established as eligible by the joint order of the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, adapting the threshold accordingly," stipulates the withdrawn draft law.
