Bolojan proposes Gov't' pledging responsibility for administration reform and economic recovery measures on January 29

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan proposed, on Monday, at the meeting of the National Political Bureau (BNP) of the National Liberal Party (PNL), that on January 29, the Government pledge responsibility before Parliament for the draft law on the administration reform, as well as for the package of measures intended for economic recovery, which will be finalized by January 26, with the contribution of all coalition partners.

The National Political Bureau of the PNL convened on Monday in the first meeting of this year, to discuss the topics on the current agenda of the government.

In this context, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, leader of the PNL, presented the package for the reform of the central and local public administration, as well as the proposed calendar for the adoption of the state budget for 2026, reads a press release of the National Liberal Party.

According to the cited source, Ilie Bolojan informed about the meeting of the governing coalition, which took place before the BPN meeting of the PNL, where the final details regarding the reform of central and local public administration were finalized, including the 10% reduction in personnel expenses.

"The form agreed in the coalition is very close to the form of the draft law on the website of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan proposed that on January 29, 2026, the Government's responsibility to Parliament for this draft law be engaged. Also, on the same day, the Government proposes to engage in responsibility to Parliament and for a package of measures for economic recovery, the form of which will be finalized by January 26, with the contribution of all coalition partners," the cited source specifies.

The 2026 state budget is expected to be adopted in the second half of February.

"As to the state budget, following technical discussions with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and taking into account the preliminary steps that still need to be taken, the adoption of the 2026 state budget is envisaged in the second half of February. The Prime Minister and leader of the National Liberal Party stated that one of the major objectives of this year is the absorption of PNRR funds," the PNL press release states.

According to the cited source, the PNL president indicated that a working group has been created on the topic of the concerns of local public administration representatives regarding local budgets and transfers of amounts for budgetary balancing from the central to the local level.
