Three young people died, and three others were injured after they were hit, on Sunday morning, on National Road DN1, at the exit from the town of Santimbru, Alba County by a car driven by a 19-year-old driver, who was under the influence of alcohol, a statement sent to AGERPRES by the Alba County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) reads.
On Sunday, at around 3:30 a.m., a 19-year-old man from Oiejdea, while driving a car on DN 1, at the exit from the Santimbru locality, near a gas station, a group of six people, who were walking on the side of the road, were surprised and injured. As a result of the accident, three people, aged approximately 17, 18, and 25, respectively, died.
"After testing the driver with the alcohol test device, the value of 1.06 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air resulted, and after testing the driver with the drugtest device, it was found that the young man was not under the influence of psychoactive substances," it is mentioned in the police release.
According to the Inspectorate for Alba Emergency Situations, the Alba Iulia Fire Department intervened to provide first aid and fire protection and security measures.
The intervention forces arrived at the scene found 3 persons injured and 3 presenting injuries incompatible with life.
