Railway company CFR signed on Tuesday two contracts with total value exceeding 957 million lei, aimed at modernizing the signaling installations on several railway sectors within the area of Cluj and Timisoara Regional Railway Branches, as well as the implementation of electronic centralizations in six railway stations in Cluj area.
According to a company's press release, the centralization of the signaling installations allows the control and verification, from specialized points, of the signals and switches used to organize the movement of trains. The modernization of these installations contributes to the reduction of operations performed locally, to the increase of the capacity for traffic coordination and to the reduction of the risks generated by the use of outdated equipment.
The first contract has as its object the design and execution of the works related to Lot 2 - Railway Sectors, for the infrastructure located within the scope of the Cluj and Timisoara Regional Railway Branches.
The contract was concluded with the Association formed by Siemens Mobility Ltd (leader), Imsat and Elsitel Elektromekanik Insaat Proje Ticarat ve Sanayi AS. The value of the contract is 822.653 million lei, excluding VAT.
The duration of the design and execution of the works is 30 months, of which 9 months for the design activity and 21 months for the execution of the works, including the tests upon their completion, under the condition of obtaining the building permits.
The warranty period is 60 months.
The second contract covers the design and execution of works for the implementation of electronic centralizations in six railway stations located in Cluj area.
The contract was concluded with the same Association formed by Siemens Mobility SRL (leader), Imsat SA and Elsitel Elektromekanik Insaat Proje Ticarat ve Sanayi AS. The value of the contract is 135.199 million lei, excluding VAT.
The duration of the design and execution of the works is 30 months, of which 9 months for the design activity and 21 months for the execution of the works, including the tests carried out upon their completion, under the condition of obtaining the building permits.
The warranty period is 60 months.
"By making the two investments, CFR aims to increase productivity and reduce operating costs in the activity of managing railway traffic, by increasing the level of centralization of signaling installations. The projects will contribute to making operations in railway nodes and stations more efficient, ensuring faster connections with routes in the targeted areas and integrating signaling installations into traffic management centers. Another objective is to increase the level of safety of railway traffic, by modernizing existing installations and introducing technical solutions adapted to current operating requirements," the press release states.
