Chimcomplex implements stage 2 of project on high-efficiency, flexible gas-fired cogeneration plant

Chimcomplex Borzesti has signed the financing contract and is in the process of implementing the second stage of the project "High-efficiency, flexible gas-fired cogeneration in the central heating sector of Ramnicu Valcea," according to a company press release issued Thursday to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), told Agerpres.

The project aims to build a high-efficiency cogeneration plant to serve the municipality of Ramnicu Valcea starting in 2026. The total value of the project is 689.394 million lei, of which the maximum eligible amount is 405 million lei.

The implementation of the project by Chimcomplex Borzesti in the locality of Ramnicu Valcea, Valcea County, will be carried out between 27.01.2023 and 31.12.2025.

The project is co-financed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Pillar I. Green Transition - Component C6 Energy Investment measure 3 - Development of flexible and high efficiency gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) generation capacity in the district heating sector to achieve deep decarbonisation.

The objectives of the project are: reduction of 84,468 tCO2 /year of greenhouse gases in the municipality of Ramnicu Valcea, increase of installed capacity in high efficiency cogeneration by 108 MW, reduction of annual primary energy consumption by 418,105 MWh through the creation of a 108 MW gas-fired, flexible and high-efficiency cogeneration capacity for electricity and heat production (CHP) to supply the inhabitants of Ramnicu-Valcea with heat energy within 36 months of the signing of the financing contract.

"The proposed project contributes positively to mitigating the challenges faced by Romania in the transition from coal and lignite-based energy sources, specifically by ensuring the thermal energy supply of the municipality of Rm. Valcea, in conditions of competitive energy efficiency at European level," the press release points out.
