Six counties in the south and southeast of the country and Bucharest municipality will be under a Code Orange warning of heat and increased thermal discomfort on Wednesday, the National Meteorological Administration informs.

Maximum temperatures of 37-39 degrees Celsius will be recorded in the warned areas, namely Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Calarasi, Ialomita, Braila, Ilfov counties and Bucharest. The thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index will be above the critical threshold of 80 units, agerpres reports.

The heat and high thermal discomfort will persist throughout Wednesday in other 16 counties (Arges, Arad, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Galati, Mehedinti, Prahova, Tulcea, Timis, Valcea, Vrancea and Vaslui), areas where meteorologists have issued a Code Yellow warning. The heat wave will persist in the southwest, south and southeast, the thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Maximum temperatures will generally be between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius and lows will fall between 17 and 23 degrees.

Weather forecasters warn that locally will occur accentuated atmospheric instability in the northern half of the territory and in small areas in the rest. On the other hand, the heat wave will intensify again towards the end of the week.

In Bucharest, the sky will be variable, with clouds temporarily accentuated especially in the evening and night of Wednesday, when the probability for short-term intensifications of wind, storms, electrical discharges and showers will increase, the Weather watchdog adds.
