Weather forecasters have issued on Tuesday evening a Code Red nowcasting warning for strong winds with gusts of over 170km/h for the mountain areas of the counties of Caras-Severin and Hunedoara, in force for the next two hours.
According to the National Weather Administration, up to 21:00 hrs, in the areas under warning, at altitudes of over 1,800 meters, significant intensification of wind will be noted, with gusts that will exceed 150 - 170 km/h, with snows coming in heavy blizzard and causing large snowdrifts, as well as zero visibility conditions.
The mountain areas of the mentioned counties are also under a Code Orange warning for wind speed in excess of 120 - 130 km/h, collapsing snowdrifts and reduced visibility, in effect until 21:00 hrs.
