The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) on Wednesday issued a Code Yellow flood warning for certain rivers in the counties of Caras-Severin, Timis, Olt, Teleorman, Arges, Dambovita, Giurgiu and Ilfov.
According to meteorologists, until Thursday at 12:00, significant runoff on slopes, torrents and streams is forecast, with possible local flooding effects and increases in flows and water levels, as well as the likelihood of exceeding warning thresholds on certain river sections in the mentioned counties.
"The population in the affected areas is advised to show caution, to avoid travel near watercourses or in areas at risk of water accumulation, not to cross flooded rivers or roads and to follow the recommendations of the local authorities," the INHGA said in a press release.
