Romanian boxer Daniela Larisa Gheba qualified on Tuesday for the final of the 80kg category at the European Boxing U19 Championships in Ostrava (the Czech Republic), after defeating Poland's Milena Marta Ataman by points, 3-1, in the semi-final.
Gheba will fight for the gold medal on 9 October against Türkiye's Aysenur Karaoglan, who defeated Ukraine's Elizaveta Bezverhnia (3-2) in the other semi-final.
It is worth noting that only four athletes entered this category.
The other three Romanians competing in the semifinals on Tuesday were defeated, securing only bronze medals.
In the 54kg category, Rebeca Micaela Muller was defeated by France's Maleo Teresi on points (0-5) in the penultimate round.
Razvan Ionut Panainte lost to Azerbaijan's Bilahabasi Nazarov by points (0-5) in the 50kg semifinal.
Daniel Adrian Grigorie also fell in the semifinals of the 70kg category, losing 2-3 to Georgia's Akaki Basaria.
On Wednesday, Mirela Elisa Cojocaru will face off Ireland's Grace Conway Dowling in the 57kg semifinal.
Romania is competing with 15 athletes, 8 men and 7 women, at the European Boxing U19 Championships in Ostrava, with the national team aiming to win at least two medals.
