Romanian swimmer Daria-Mariuca Silisteanu won the gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke on Sunday at the European Junior Championships in Vilnius (Lithuania).
Silisteanu was clocked with a time of 1 min 00 sec 72/100, being followed in the final ranking by the Hungarian Lora Komoroczy, 1 min 01 sec 39/100, and by the Spanish Estella Llum Tonrath Nollgen, 1 min 01 sec 49/100.
Romania ended the competition with seven medals, four gold, won by Vlad-Stefan Mihalache (200 m butterfly), Robert-Andrei Badea (200 m medley, 400 m medley) and Daria-Mariuca Silisteanu (100 m backstroke) , two silvers, by Rebecca-Aimee Diaconescu (200 m freestyle) and Aissia-Claudia Prisecariu (200 m backstroke), and one bronze, obtained by Alexandru Constantinescu (200 m backstroke).
Romania took fourth place in the medals ranking, ahead of Italy (13-9-3), Hungary (4-3-4) and Turkey (4-3-3).
