Chairman of the People's Movement Party (PMP) Eugen Tomac on Wednesday told government members, at the general debate on 2019 budget, that they managed to upset all the mayors, including the Social Democrat ones, because of the decided "cuts."
"No matter what the government says, the reality is only one: you managed to upset all the mayors, including the ones representing PSD (Social Democratic Party). I saw them on the Government stairs, they are concerned because of the cuts you've made," said Tomac.
He also mentioned the blocked jobs in the public sector and the cut in funds to children and persons with disabilities.
"We don't understand why during this period when we can save the economy you only place 4.5 per cent in investments, while we had 6.5 per cent of the GDP earmarked for investments in full crisis. So, our request is for you to care more about the Romanians and agree with our proposal to slash all special pensions, instead, for you are mocking the pensioners like this. We have 4.5 million pensioners with pensions below 1,000 lei. If we cut special pensions, we will have money including for motorway and we could build 1,000 nurseries (...) and most definitely we will have resources for ambulances and including for "Unirii Motorway," stated Tomac.
Moreover, he asked the Minister of Finance to explain why didn't the Government send the draft budget for 2019 to Parliament in October last year, as the law requires.
