DefMin Tilvar: MApN denies knowing that Russian drones fell on Romania's soil

The Romanian Ministry of National Defence (MApN) has denied knowing that Russian drones had fallen on Romanian territory, Defence Minister Angel Tilvar told AGERPRES in an interview on Monday.

"The Ministry of Defence has denied the fact that Russian drones had fallen on the national territory and did so knowingly because (...) we have the capabilities intended to warn and monitor the situation in the area, which is why the information we provide is accurate and correct from all points of view," Tilvar pointed out.

Regarding the security of Romanian sailors shipping grain from Ukrainian ports, Tilvar said: "In Romania's security architecture there is the Coast Guard, there is the Border Police, so there was no question of the Ministry of National Defence having extraterritorial responsibilities in this sense."

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba is quoted by the Reuters news agency as having said on Monday that Ukraine had photographic evidence to show that Russian drones struck Romanian territory during an overnight air attack on Ukrainian port infrastructure on the Danube River.

The full interview with Tilvar will be broadcast on Tuesday.
