The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, will pay an official visit to Romania on Friday, 27 March, in Bucharest and Oradea, according to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Democratic Union of Slovaks in Romania (UDSR).
The Slovak prime minister will be accompanied by Defence Minister Robert Kalinak and Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova, the cited source said.
"The visit is of particular significance, marking the first official presence of a Slovak prime minister in Slovak communities in Romania," the press release sent by MP Adrian-Miroslav Merka, president of the UDSR, states.
According to the release, the Slovak prime minister will be received by Romania's President, Nicusor Daniel Dan, and will hold an official meeting at the Victoria Palace of Government with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Members of the Slovak government delegation will also hold bilateral talks with their counterparts in the Romanian Government.
On the same day, starting at 16:30, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, together with the Slovak delegation, will be received at Oradea City Hall, in the Traian Mosoiu Hall, where they will attend a meeting with representatives of the Slovak community from the counties of Arad, Bihor, Cluj, Satu Mare, Salaj and Timis.
More than 100 members of the Slovak community in Romania will attend the event in Oradea, including the leadership of the Democratic Union of Slovaks in Romania (UDSR), representatives of Slovak religious denominations (Roman Catholic and Evangelical Lutheran), priests, school inspectors, heads of educational institutions with teaching in Slovak, leaders of local UDSR organisations, as well as representatives of the local public administration.
