Digitisation will be used to improving social assistance services in Romania (Labour minister)

Ministerul Muncii
Simona Bucura Oprescu

The Ministry of Labour will use digitization to improve social assistance services in Romania, with the Single Register of Social Assistance and Service Beneficiaries and the Register of Social Assistance Service Providers to be digitised, the Labour and Social Solidarity minister, Simona Bucura Oprescu, said on Saturday in southeastern Black Sea resort of Neptun.

The two registers will allow us at any time to know, the first one, where is a vulnerable person, an elderly person, a child who benefits from such services, who is the guardian authority, who is the owner, who pays for the services they benefit from, where does they come from, what is their history and the second, to know what are the correct measures that we must take, to have a scoreboard and to improve the quality of these services, said Simona Bucura Oprescu, conform Agerpres.

Being asked about her priorities at the Ministry of Labour, Simona Bucura Oprescu claimed that she is considering a package of reforms to create a stronger labour market.

"Having a strong labour market, whether we are talking about the area of employment or employers, we will also have a place to redistribute pensions and salaries. (...) we want to come up with a package of reforms so that both employers, as well as the employees to have more opportunities on the labour market, and we, as the ministry leader on the labour policy side, to be pro-active, because, if until a few years ago the employers said that the biggest problem they have is taxation, now we often hear them saying that the biggest problem they have is the lack of qualified labour force. And then, it is our duty to find solutions together with them and give Romania good enough people, so that the Romanian society has results, but above all to be even stronger in Europe," said the Labour minister.

The minister of Labor and Social Solidarity, Simona Bucura Oprescu, participated, on Saturday, in Neptun, in the European Summer University PES activists Romania, together with the minister of Investments and European Projects, Adrian Caciu, the minister of Research, Innovation and Digitasation, Bogdan Gruia Ivan, parliamentarians and social-democratic MEPs from Romania and Europe.
