Dinu (IGPR): Over 1,100 firearms confiscated in first four months of 2025

Over 1,100 firearms were confiscated by police officers in the first four months of the year, announced on Saturday the director of the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Directorate within the IGPR, Chief Police Commissioner Nicolae Adrian Dinu.

"In the first four months of this year, the police officers of the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Directorate and the territorial structures in the field carried out activities within the material competences of the structure, aiming to increase the degree of citizen safety, by streamlining the activity of combating crimes related to weapons, ammunition, hunting poaching, explosives and dangerous substances," said Nicolae Adrian Dinu, in a press statement held at the MIA headquarters.

According to him, nationwide, the weapons, explosives and dangerous substances structures carried out over 700 actions on the weapons and hunting poaching front and over 400 actions on the explosives and dangerous substances front.

He also mentioned that over 4,000 weapons checks were carried out on individuals and legal entities and over 1,500 explosives and dangerous substances checks, while over 400 home search warrants were also implemented.

"Thus, the police officers of the weapons, explosives and dangerous substances structures confiscated over 1,100 firearms and over 40,000 pieces of cartridges of various calibers," said Nicolae Adrian Dinu.
