Italian director Mario Martone is the special guest in the Focus Italia section of Les Films de Cannes in Bucarest this weekend, as he is to participate in the presentation of his film Nostalgia (2022) and a question-and-answer session with the public.
"Every year, Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest brings a country to the fore through its films. This year it's the audience's turn to discover contemporary cinema from Italy, home to three films in competition at Cannes: A Brighter Tomorrow (2023), directed by Nanni Moretti, Kidnapped (2023) by Marco Bellocchio and Nostalgia (2022), directed by Mario Martone'', according to a release sent to AGERPRES.
The director Mario Martone will be present in Bucharest during the last weekend of the festival to present his film and meet the audience at a question-and-answer session, on October 27, at Cinema Elvire Popesco.
Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest ends on Sunday, October 29, with the Golden Day, which brings together the screenings of the films that won the grand prize at the most important film festivals in Europe. Anatomie d'une chute/Anatomy of a collapse, Justine Triet - Palme d'Or at Cannes, Sur l'Adamant/Pe Adamant, Nicolas Philibert - Golden Bear at Berlin and Poor Things, Yorgos Lanthimos - Golden Lion at Venice will could see the Peasant Museum on the same day at the Cinema.
Director Nicolas Philibert will also be present at the Sur l'Adamant/Pe Adamant screening on Saturday, October 28, at Elvire Popesco. The public will also be able to meet him during the special retrospective screening of his most famous film, Etre et avoir (2002), which exceeded one million viewers the year it was released.
