The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, visited, on Tuesday, the cogeneration plant near Petromidia, the largest project carried out by the Kazakh-Romanian Energy Investment Fund (FIEKR), underlining the importance of this investment which will ensure the electricity demand for the refinery.
"It is an extremely important day because we are talking about an electricity production capacity that will ensure the demand of Petromidia, on the one hand, and on the other hand, will ensure the balancing of the energy system in this region. It is perhaps the most important investment in the energy system in Dobrogea and comes with a contribution, with a very clear message for the energy market in Romania, the fact that it is possible, the fact that we are consistent when we say that we need an increase in energy capacities at the national level. (...) I very much believe that this investment made in partnership, based on the partnership established by the Romanian state and Kazakhstan in 2013, worth 164 million dollars, represents the start of a series of consistent investments, investments that will go up to a billion dollars", the minister of Energy said.
The largest project carried out by the Kazakh-Romanian Energy Investment Fund (FIEKR), the cogeneration plant near the Petromidia refinery, is in the final phase of testing and certification, and at the end of August, the plant will enter into operation by Rompetrol Energy. The plant will provide the entire electricity and technological steam demand of the Petromidia refinery.
The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Romania, Yerlik Ali, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Constanta, Corina Martin, representatives of the Constanta administration, as well as the companies KazMunayGas, KMG International - Rompetrol.
