The head coach of the Romanian national football team, Edward Iordanescu, stated on Friday, in a press conference held in Germany, that national team faces a challenge at a higher level, as it is to play versus Belgium in the second match at EURO 2024, "a colossal opponent", in his opinion.

"Belgium is the 3rd place in the world rankings, has very valuable players and comes with a very big need for points. It represents a very big challenge for us, but I am sure that we are ready to give our best. Otherwise, the opponent is colossal, that's the reality. It has a lot of value, in the first match it had 4-5 huge opportunities (...) and we are aware of that, we are ready for anything. If in the end a draw would be enough for us to qualify, then the point is welcome (...) but our thinking has always been to get the most out of every game, and that's how we'll play tomorrow too," he explained.

"We were expecting such matches, we wanted to be at the EURO, because here you meet the best opponents. For us, they are fantastic experiences and I want to believe that we only have to gain from them. Tomorrow we have to get up, organize ourselves, be precise in what we do and efficient", he added.

Iordanescu said that he will not make many changes in the team before the game against Ukraine.

Edward Iordanescu, whose contract with FRF expires at the end of EURO 2024, wanted to say that he has no offers at the moment.

"I don't have any offer. Absolutely no offer. It's a subject I do not want to talk about while we're here," Iordanescu emphasized.

The Romanian national football team debuted with a victory at the European Football Championship - EURO 2024, hosted by Germany, 3-0 (1-0) against Ukraine, on Monday, at the Football Arena in Munich, in Group E.

The tricolors achieved a historic victory, their second at the European Championship, 24 years after the previous one (3-2 with England), although they started with the second chance in this match.

Romania will play the following matches against Belgium on Saturday, in Cologne, starting 22:00, and against Slovakia on June 26 (Frankfurt).
