The 18 tourists stuck at a height, in the two cabins of the Balea Cable Car, are being evacuated, they are being lowered with the help of special cables to the ground, from where they are being taken over by mountain rescuers, announced the head of the Sibiu County Public Mountain Rescue Service, Dan Popescu, according to Agerpres.
According to him, the tourists were stuck due to a technical malfunction in the cable car.
"The situation is not serious, and the people are safe, being assisted by both the cable car staff and the mountain rescuers", Dan Popescu specified.
The Balea cable car makes cable transport possible between Balea Cascada and Balea Lac, at over 2,000 meters altitude in the Fagaras Mountains. This distance can also be covered by road, on the Transfagarasan Road.
