The final formula of the fiscal measures package could be ready on Monday morning, and the effects of the appointment of the prime minister will be seen in the market starting on Monday, according to presidential advisor Dragos Anastasiu, informs Agerpres.

The presidential advisor told Digi24 TV that the main target is to avoid Romania being relegated to the category of countries not recommended for investment, and the fiscal package must be convincing for the rating agencies.

"I am convinced that we will have four parties, I am convinced that they will reach an agreement and we will certainly have to be careful with our foreign partners, because the first target we have is not to be relegated and to reach what is called junk, because that would really be a serious problem for Romania. So, that is the first objective and that will have to be discerningly avoided, through a package that takes into account all the opinions, both of the president and of the parties, and that will also be convincing enough for those who classify us, if you will, in the credibility zone", Anastasiu emphasized.

He stated that, although there was a lot of public discussion about VAT, in the working groups there was a particular discussion about reducing spending, re-prioritizing investments and many other tax and adjustment measures, not just about VAT.

"I want to tell you, first of all, that there was a lot of public discussion about VAT, but in the working groups there was a lot of discussion about many other measures, about reducing expenses, especially about them, and about re-prioritizing investments, and about many other tax and adjustment measures, not only about VAT. (...) We all know and would like to have some time, not to increase taxes at all and to make waste reductions, because in Romania there is a lot of waste, in the public sector there are many exaggerations, there are many inequities that we feel, which rightly outraged us, which also caused us to have the initial election results", the quoted source pointed out.

He argued, however, that the authorities now have their backs to the wall and must adopt measures with immediate results, and the easiest one to adopt is the measure regarding VAT. Anastasiu specified, however, that the discussions are regarding differentiated VAT rates.

As the appointment of Ilie Bolojan for the position of prime minister, the presidential advisor believes that he is a credible prime minister, and the effects of this decision will be seen on the market as early as Monday.

"It is very good that we have a credible prime minister, known for his firmness, with a past that proves that what he sets out to do, he does. This is extraordinary. It is a big point for Romania and you will see the effects on the market from Monday. But it is not enough. We also need to come up with a program, once aligned internally, but at the same time credible for those outside, who finance us", Anastasiu emphasized.

President Nicusor Dan designated, on Friday, the interim leader of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan, for the position of prime minister.
