Romania's Financial Oversight Authority (FSA) is holding, October 6-10, 2025, a series of financial education actions and events during the World Investor Week (WIW).

According to ASF, their purpose is to raise awareness over the importance of acquiring the notions specific to non-banking financial markets by students, young people, and also by the general public.

WIW Week started on Monday, at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, with the event "The bell rings at BVB", in the presence of students from the Iulia Hasdeu National Collegiate High School. They attended the symbolic opening of the trading session and an interactive workshop on the capital market and investments.

During the ninth edition of WIW, ASF will carry out a wide range of educational activities. They include sessions dedicated to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, through a partnership with the Ilfov General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, as well as activities at the Federico Garcia Lorca Secondary School, King George International School, Secondary School no. 79, Mircea cel Batran Technical Collegiate High School and the Nicolae Kretzulescu Economics Collegiate High School of Bucharest.

Another major event is organised in collaboration with the Romanian Olympic Committee (COSR) under a strategic collaboration protocol concluded between ASF and COSR designed for the two organisations to develop joint educational projects focused on strengthening financial education among athletes from the Olympic Team Romania and on promoting Olympic values in society.

The Central Depository joins the initiative this year and offers the public, free of charge, for 30 days, starting with October 6, 2025, the service of obtaining summaries of account positions. Also during WIW, actions dedicated to the Body of Expert and Certified Accountants of Romania (CECCAR) members will take place, in the form of technical sessions on the capital market.

At the same time, ASF will conduct financial education sessions in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the Centre for the Improvement of Training of Gendarmerie Personnel Gheorgheni, the Septimiu Muresan School of Police Officers in Cluj-Napoca and the Centre for Initial and Continuous Training of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The ASF Academic Laboratory and SmartFin ISF programs will be carried out at several universities in the country: University of Bucharest, the Bucharest School of Economics (ASE), Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, University of Craiova, University of Oil and Gas of Ploiesti, 1 December 1918 University of Alba Iulia, Romanian-American University, Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava, Valahia University of Targoviste, Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest and the Lower Danube University of Galati.

ASF will participate in the annual meeting, which will take place in Sarajevo, within the OECD/INFE Technical Assistance for Financial Education Project, part of the International Cooperation Programme of the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands.

Romania's Financial Oversight Authority is a member of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and, in this capacity, supports the initiatives of the organisation, which debuted the World Investor Week concept in 2017, raising awareness of the need for financial education amidst a changing financial market and a behaviour increasingly based on high risk-taking.

ASF is a national authority for the regulation and supervision of the insurance markets, private pensions, as well as the capital market, which totals over 10 million participants.
